THUMKA

About - Thumka

noun: thumka; plural noun: thumkey

Thumka is a Hindi word meaning a rhythmical jerk of the hip and waist it’s a dance move and boy has George been dancing in the kitchen since Thumka opened this year.

One of our longstanding bar staff, George came to us with the idea to take on  the Little Faith kitchen with her Indian street food menu, and we were all pan-ears.

Since we converted our little shipping container into a kitchen in 2019, we’ve enjoyed working with a variety of great street food traders, one of whom - Jerk Off BBQ - is now our neighbour at Artworks! However the time was right to see what we could conjure up ourselves, and Thumka was born in late 2020.

As well as serving up mouthwatering food to accompany  our beer, George loves having the freedom to work with our favourite local suppliers. We are now incorporating into our recipes beer brewed by Little Faith, Mother Bhumi pakoras, Bread and Butler’s brioche buns, herbs and spices from Mini Crops and wild fermented hot sauces made by Hilly’s Sauce Co. (and that’s just for starters!).

We hope you agree now is the time to Thumka at Little Faith.
